New Year New Skincare Taboos You Should Try Today Pharmhealth Pharmacy

If last year has thought us anything, it is that we need to take care of ourselves. Many people start the new year off by vowing to get healthy and start exercising more regularly. While looking at ways to get your body healthy, why not take the time to look at your current skincare routine and ask yourself if you are getting the most out of your current skincare practices or if there is room for improvement.

Switching up your skincare may seem a little daunting but we have choosen two amazing products to add into your current cleansing and moisturizing regime to make your skin glow this year and become more youthful and healthy. Retinol and Vitamin C are two of the most potent ingredients to combat wrinkles, fade skin discoloration and boost collagen production in your skin. The Inkey list skincare range have both these products available at affordable prices so everyone can boost their skin health this year. But what are these two ingredients and how can they help your skin?

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals that damage your skin and helps to brighten your complexion, while Retinol (a form of vitamin A) stimulates collagen production to tighten and soften your skin. Always use an SPF while using retinol as it can increase your skins sensitivity to UV rays causing your skin to become dry and flakey. Combining these two products can be a little tricky if you don’t know what your doing so we have put together a little explanation and a handy beauty routine for you to follow.

Vitamin C serum and Retinol have different PH levels. Vitamin C needs a PH of 3.5 or lower to penetrate into your skin, while retinol needs a PH of 5/6 to be effective. If you use these two products at the same time the vitamin C serum lowers the PH of the retinol serum and likewise; Retinol increase the PH of your vitamin C serum meaning they won’t be as effective at improving your skins health. Therefore it is best to use vitamin C in the morning and retinol at night to see the most benefits from these products. If you really have to use the two of them together then leave at least a 30 minute gap between applications to allow your vitamin C serum absorb into your skin and let your skins PH return to normal. Then the absorption of your retinol won’t be effected as much.

Always start off slow incorporating new products into your current routine to make sure your skin reacts well to them. Start off once or twice a week and gradually build up the use of these products. Start off your day by cleansing your skin and while your skin is still damp apply your vitamin C to increase the penetration of the serum into your skin. Allow your Vitamin C serum to fully absorb into your skin and then apply moisturizer with an SPF and continue with your normal regime.

At night, wash your face before bed to remove pollutants and dirt from the day. Dry your face completely and apply your retinol serum. After a couple of minutes follow your serum with your night time moisturizer to nourish your skin and your new skincare routine is complete. Remember to start off slowly but over time you will steadily notice the brightening appearance of your skin, the reduction in uneven skin tone, increased firming and tightening of the skin, a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and the fading of acne scars.

Hopefully by reading this quick skincare guide we have inspired you to shake up your current beauty habits for the new year ahead and incorporate these two powerful serums to build up your collagen and fight wrinkles to leave you with a beautifully radiant and youthful complexion.

Good Luck! You should Try it today.
